Adam J. Berger
Adam Berger was a consultant for twenty years in the financial services industry. He has directed projects with some of the largest insurance companies and pension plans in the world, including American Reinsurance, ACE Reinsurance, St. Paul Insurance Company, Pfizer, Siemens, and General Motors. Eight years ago, Adam switched careers to follow his passion and become a teacher. He has taught high school mathematics in both inner-city and suburban public schools, and he is currently teaching at Holmdel High School in Holmdel, New Jersey. Adam holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Yale University and a Ph.D. in Statistics and Operations Research from Princeton University.
Donald S. Berger
Don Berger’s 38-year career in Independent School education includes teaching English at Moses Brown School (Rhode Island), and Dean of Students and then Head of Upper School at Manlius Pebble Hill School (New York). Don then served as the Founding Head of School at Cary Academy (North Carolina), where for 16 years he led the school’s development into one of the nation’s premier independent schools. Among its many recognitions, Cary Academy received a National Association of Independent School’s Leading Edge Award, the U.S. Department of Education’s No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School Award, and the Computerworld Smithsonian Laureate for Visionary use of Information Technology. Don also served as the Head of School at Cape Fear Academy (North Carolina)
Don has presented on a variety of educational matters at the Headmaster’s of Internationally Recognized Secondary School Conference in Beijing, the National Association of Independent Schools annual conference, the North Carolina Association of Nonprofits annual conference, and the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools annual conference. Don served for 10 years on the Board of the North Carolina Association of Independent Schools, which he chaired from 2016-18. Don earned a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in English from Haverford College and an Ed.M. in Administration, Planning, and Public Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
